sweet tooth butterworth.

that's what stefan likes to call me and i can't say the nickname isn't well deserved. the holiday season always puts my love for sugar into overdrive so here's a roundup of some of my fave treats from le blogosphere de food. even if you don't feel like baking, just feasting your eyes on these tasty treats may be enough.
three-layer peppermint bark over at eatmakeread. (in my mouth. now. go on, get in there.)gastronomy's pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. (pumpking anything=swooooon.)
baked doughnuts from my most favoritest cookbook author heidi swanson at 101 cookbooks. (i never met a doughnut i didn't like.)s'mores cookie bars at lovin' from the oven. (omg, s'mores.) see you in the baking aisle!

party people.

i love a good lil' holiday par-tay, so drinking hot apple cider spiked with whiskey at anna and mike's super sweet studio space this weekend was definitely worth braving through the cold, cold slushee that was brooklyn friday night. the room was full of cool peeps but this guest here was by far the cutest. anna and mike happen to be one of those crazy creative dynamic duos so let's just take a moment to bask in their awesomeness:

aren't anna's photos dreamy?

and mike's new work is just awesome.

mmm...

there are few things i love more than breakfast (ok, dessert is one, anyways...) so i can't help but check in regularly with jen's blog simply breakfast.
she has a lovely way of capturing the early morning hour.
and making me totally hungry in the process.
peep it now cause the end of the year marks the end of simply breakfast. luckily, you can keep her tasty photos on your bookshelf forever.

all in the family.

speaking of cute bands, my brother happens to be in one! nodzzz pretty much rule, ask pitchfork, or the guardian, they'll back me up (and they're not even related to the drummer).fresh off a west coast tour with love is all and vivian girls, they're headin' my way in february. (can't wait.) download their new album at other music, or head to your nearest awesome indie record shop. and no, i'm not done embarrassing him yet. my industrious sibling also runs his own label, make a mess records. here he is, hard at work in san francisco:awww, so cute, right? way to go little bro.

kime is the new blood is the new black.

kime buzzelli's new tees at blood is the new black are my kind of uniform.
i'll take one of each. thanks.

cute band alert.

just a few days ago i was editing the music section for the feb/mar issue and read about the pains of being pure at heart. i thought, "ooooh, i neeeed this album." then, i go here to catch up with siri and find out that her best boy is in said cute band. and until i get my sticky fingers on said awesome-sounding album, i can just hit play on this adorable ear/eye candy of a video.

no need to explain how the universe works in cases like this cause my stylez for milez blog crush has the big bang theory all figured out. hey, i've got bangs too. cooooincideeeence?really. illegal levels of cuteness going on.

what the what?

is bill murray nyc's new party boy? love him. kinda makes me want to throw a kegger.

dear santa...

my favorite foul-mouthed fashionista, nicole locher, is running just my kind of contest. here's a snippet from her newsletter so you can all get in on the goods:

Since it is the season for giving, and sweet tidings and all those things, NICOLE LOCHER has decided to get into the holiday spirit and give 10 LUCKY WINNERS something for FREE from the LOCHER'S store. Here is how you can get the chance to get your grubby little mits on something sweet.

Instead of WRITING SANTA about how good you were this year, Nicole wants to know just HOW BAD YOU WERE, and the top ten letters of all the naughty secrets and slutty things you did over the past year will be rewarded with ANY one item of your choice from the store. Don't worry, your emails are just for Nicole to read in private, no one will ever know, it's just nice to read some good gossip curled up by the fire with roasted chestnuts. So true stories only, or Nicole will smell bullshit and it won't be considered.
Email your story until DECEMBER 14th to badsanta@lochers.com and the best of luck to you all!!

i've already picked out my prize, to be worn daily on the L train:and even if you were an especially good girl, you're still in luck since her entire collection is 25% off. surely you know a petite salope who could use a darling blouse or two? maybe you?

and everyone wins.

this pic of me and caroline from last night's biblioball totally reminds me of my favorite shel silverstein poem:

for the record.

i'm loving this blog, record envelope: the little library of factory sleeves, by the awesome illustrator kavel rafferty. it's perfect for graphic design geeks AND vinylphiles. these are a few of my recent faves.
totally makes me wanna go record shopping. gawd, i miss amoeba.

edible cocktail?

loves it! combining two of my favorite things (eating and drinking), this edible pumpkin pie shot from tasting table sounds like the perfect capper to a t-day feast. click here for the recipe. mmmmm. (beeteedub, totally digging this new food and drink culture newsletter, as if i need a more informed temptation to eat my way through winter? and new york for that matter?)

coffee date.

yesterday i met up with kelly of eatmakeread for a cafe au lait and a lovely little chat. not only did she introduce me to a new place that i can't wait to try again (pictured above), but she sent me home with a stack of chocolate toffee cookies that sent my sweet tooth over the moon (pictured below).
i polished off two just on the walk back to my apartment, eek! i might just have to bake a batch of my own this weekend. nothing cures a turkey hangover like chocolate cookies, right? riiiight??

bonnie & clyde.

thanks to a heads up from joanna, heather and i caught bonnie & clyde on the big screen yesterday at the anthology film archives.
i'm embarrassed to admit i'd never seen it before, it's been languishing on my to-watch list for years (along with christiane f., some like it hot, and a million other movies in my netflix queue). but getting to see it for the first time on the big screen made it worth the wait. talk about a feast for the eyes.
that faye dunaway sure is a tall glass of water (what does that really mean, anyway?! whatever, it seems to fit her perfectly). gah, that look! she's stunning. i sense a new obsession. and what i wouldn't give to raid the costume closet on that set.

crafty interiors

trish and maureen, the super creative gals behind domestic construction, are doing some really cool stuff. making environments that are sweet and sophisticated, they're bringing the handmade to interior design.
i know i'm not the only one who's fantasized about living in anthropologie, these are the ladies who can make those dreams come true.
check out the write-up i did on them for today's daily candy new york.
