frosting my way to oblivion.

oh joy, thanks for validating my inclination that cupcakes make a perfectly acceptable breakfast (lunch, or dinner). especially one like this from whiskie bits in oakland: vietnamese-coffee cake with vietnamese-coffee condensed-milk buttercream frosting. ooohhhhh. emmmm. geeeee.

"it'd be a lot cooler if you did."

dazed and confused happens to be one of my favorite movies. like, ever. so thanks, wildfox, for bringing it to life in your spring lookbook. now, back to l-i-v-i-n.

on the road again.

i'm off to rochester for a weekend of thrifting, used-book browsing, old-movie watching, and diner dining. in other words, qt with the bf. now if only i had these adorable suitcases to pack my things in and those too-cute scalloped shoes to wear...

cute band alert.

well, i couldn't post the adorable line from geronimo without mentioning that the gal making those suits look so fetching is in a lovely little band called the whispertown 2000. i had my doubts about the l.a. foursome at first, but boy did they grow on me. that folksy, front-porch, tambourine-drenched sound is totally my jam! watch the video below for additional cuteness.

sunshine daydreams.

in my head i'm wearing one of these awesome vintage-looking bathing suits from geronimo while sipping a frozen mojito in between sun-soaked naps and dips in the pool before changing into those fire-engine red short shorts for a hot town, summer in the city kind of night. delusional? yes. awesome anyway? also yes.

live long summer.

these amazing necklaces from lizzie fortunato are outfits in and of themselves. i want one of each. i already gushed about them over on maquette (where samantha was kind enough to have me guest blog while she's on a california adventure), but they're awesome enough to mention twice. i especially love the summer camp styling and each piece's seasonally appropriate name. just looking at the collection makes me think of fireflies, starry nights, bonfires, and bunk beds. though the chill outside is saying otherwise.

"wait, i might actually like these."

i kind of totally love the new boy by band of outsiders lookbook. cute clothes. sarah silverman. canter's deli. match made in heaven. read about it here.

i want to go to there.

there's something about kelsey foster's photos that just makes me want to jump right into them (in the case of the third image down, it might just be the pancakes). i met kelsey when we got to explore morningside heights together (there were pastries and bellinis and stairways to heaven involved) for a time out new york story awhile back (thanks anna, for the introduction!) and since she just updated the work on her site, i figured what better time to post her lovely pics. especially since one of my daily reads just reminded me of how awesome she is.

book nook: a homemade life.

my love of food (eating it, cooking it, looking at it, reading about it) is nothing short of epic. when i stumbled upon orangette, written by molly wizenberg, with its meandering food-centric stories, lovely little details, personal touches, and subdued polaroids of half-eaten cakes, stacks of cookies, plates of noodles, and colanders of kale, i knew i'd be coming back. this week things got even better when her brand new book, a homemade life: stories and recipes from my kitchen table (get it, read it, love it!), made its way into my eager little hands.as for the icing on the cake? i got to catch molly's reading at idlewild books tonight, where she namechecked david byrne as her greatest inspiration, said she could die a happy gal if her writing ever made anyone feel the way a radiohead album makes her feel, waxed endearingly about her dad's potato salad (chapter 1, i nearly cried!), and listened graciously when i nervously blurted out that she introduced me to my fave tomato soup evs while she signed my book. i mean, really? i couldn't think of anything better to say? oh well, that soup IS amazing.

what happened?!?

yesterday felt like this:

all sunshine and short dresses. today? feels like this:

damp, gray skies and dark layers. i like em both, but C'MON! spring, you are such a teeeeeease!!!

i’m talking bout SPRING! and it tastes like sweet, melty popsicles, pb&js on the beach, evening mojitos, and a bag of chips on the open road. so long winter!

i always love popping over to the small stakes to see what bay-area designer jason munn has been up to. it's usually something awesome (see above).

four words: sweet tater sample sale. the two gals behind this nolita boutique house a killer vintage selection, but it's their own line of so-easy-to-wear tunics and shirt-dresses that kills me on the regular. i wish my closet was full of their pieces and if these deets from refinery29 are true, i might get one step closer to making that dream come true.

What: The NoLIta boutique is offering pieces from past and present collections (now $20-$50)
When: Through, Tuesday, March 24, from noon to 7 p.m.; closed on Mondays
Where: Sweet Tater, 280 Mulberry Street, (between Prince and Houston streets); 212-219-6400
