ok, i still haven't seen the woman with red boots, but thanks to the magic of netflix insta-play i was introduced to this little gem: les parapluies de cherbourg. how could i have gone so long without knowing its candy-colored, frenchie-phile, sing-song magnificence existed?? just feast your eyes on these stills and try not to fall in love with sweet tart umbrellas, wet cobblestone streets, a picture-perfect catherine deneuve, serenading frenchmen, and WHAT ABOUT THAT WALLPAPER!!!! dying.

my mom and dad are totally rad. the photo above is one of my absolute favorites but since today is their 35th (!!!) wedding anniversary, i couldn't resist posting these pics from their engagement party at my grandparent's house, way back in the day. could my dad's collar get any wider? could my mom's hair get any cooler?
here's to many more years of champagne toasts and happy smooches!

i love me some vintage dishware. thankfully, my lack of cupboard space saves me a lot a cash in that department but if i had any extra shelf space, i'd fill it with this sweet little number. talk about a tea party waiting to happen. and with those retro low-rent marijuana leaf look-alikes?? love!!

my friend ely is a dancin' ma-cheen. no joke. just check out this video, boombox, that he made for one of his senior mfa projects at yale (hellooooo, fancybrain!): 100 days, 100 songs, 100 locations (my apartment even makes a cameo in the mid-20s!), 100 dances. he has got some serious moves. watching him get down totally cracks me up and doesn't it make you want to get loose on a dancefloor of your own??

what i WISH i was wearing.

after waking up at 4:30am to catch my morning flight home from rochester, and dealing with the hellish throes of april/may deadline, i seriously wished i had gone to work in sweatpants. luckily i don't own any otherwise i might have. ideally, i'd be one of these girls looking cute and cozy and completely effortless on even my very worst of days. i think that comes naturally with being scandinavian. too bad i ain't got none of that in my heritage.

i totally love the fabric from hable construction, so you can bet i'll be hitting up the good-bye sale at their nyc shop. they've decided to close their west village store, so swing by before feb. 28 for shit you probably don't need but will buy anyway cause it's "such a gooood deeeeaalll!" (that's the voice of my inner sucker. convincing, no?)
and never fear, hable will still be cranking out design dork-worthy products, you'll just have to get them online.

here's a little sample of jenna hein's awesome calligraphy skills. her handwriting is cute and quirky and i got to spread the word about it in friday's daily candy nyc edition. check it out! not only is jenna a super talented gal and a wonderful partner in martha stewart adventuring, she's also a total sweetheart. you can tell how cute she is just by looking at her save the date card for her upcoming wedding above. adorbz!

ok, just one more thing about the feb/mar issue. i'm so stoked i had the opportunity to interview the talented louise sturges about her crazy cool style (if i wasn't so sleepy i'd get off my ass and actually scan the page, but for now you'll have to know that this teeny-tiny pic is actually a really cool article). i've long been a fan of her blog, besosyfotos, so it was a pleasure to meet the lovely lady herself. lemme tell you, this gal is rad.
