edible cocktail?

loves it! combining two of my favorite things (eating and drinking), this edible pumpkin pie shot from tasting table sounds like the perfect capper to a t-day feast. click here for the recipe. mmmmm. (beeteedub, totally digging this new food and drink culture newsletter, as if i need a more informed temptation to eat my way through winter? and new york for that matter?)

coffee date.

yesterday i met up with kelly of eatmakeread for a cafe au lait and a lovely little chat. not only did she introduce me to a new place that i can't wait to try again (pictured above), but she sent me home with a stack of chocolate toffee cookies that sent my sweet tooth over the moon (pictured below).
i polished off two just on the walk back to my apartment, eek! i might just have to bake a batch of my own this weekend. nothing cures a turkey hangover like chocolate cookies, right? riiiight??

bonnie & clyde.

thanks to a heads up from joanna, heather and i caught bonnie & clyde on the big screen yesterday at the anthology film archives.
i'm embarrassed to admit i'd never seen it before, it's been languishing on my to-watch list for years (along with christiane f., some like it hot, and a million other movies in my netflix queue). but getting to see it for the first time on the big screen made it worth the wait. talk about a feast for the eyes.
that faye dunaway sure is a tall glass of water (what does that really mean, anyway?! whatever, it seems to fit her perfectly). gah, that look! she's stunning. i sense a new obsession. and what i wouldn't give to raid the costume closet on that set.

crafty interiors

trish and maureen, the super creative gals behind domestic construction, are doing some really cool stuff. making environments that are sweet and sophisticated, they're bringing the handmade to interior design.
i know i'm not the only one who's fantasized about living in anthropologie, these are the ladies who can make those dreams come true.
check out the write-up i did on them for today's daily candy new york.

lovin' lorena.

ok, i know amazing ceramicist lorena barrezueta's beautiful line of jewelry is not that new anymore. but i've been coveting it for months and seeing samantha's gorgeous "s" necklace last night made me remember how badly i want to rock the lovely little number below.
except, it might make me feel like a loser. is that the first thing you think of too?
maybe i should stick to one of these purty bracelets. no misinterpretation there.

speaking of quilting...

there are many times i wish i was as crafty as my imagination would allow me to be.
this table runner would be one of the first things on my to-do list. the purl bee has a million tutorials that make me want to dust off my sewing machine and whip out my knitting needles. someday, soooomeday!

quilt it.

check out caroline's awesome tutorial on the mother-lode of DIY sites, threadbanger! and yes, she knows it's a hexagon. you don't need to tell her. again.

the bbdub rub

wendy mullin is trying to kill me.
yes, i think it's awesome that everything in her fall collection is 50% off.
and no, i still cannot afford it. but instead of being completely out of my realm of shopping reality...
all of these gorgeous pieces are now only slightly beyond the reach of my nearly stretched to the max fantastic plastic.
and that hurts. it hurts!!! why wendy, whyyyyyyy???

riding that train.

heading upstate for a romantical weekend. hopefully, i'll actually be on the train before it takes off.
in my imagination, my trip will be a great, exotic adventure a la darjeeling limited.
(oh wes anderson, why must you torture me with your perfectly stylized, awesomely soundtracked version of a reality i will never know??)
but i'm pretty sure my amtrak car will look nothing like this. unfortch. have a lovely weekend!

darkness falls forever

my girl hannah is one crazy talented artist and if you're anywhere near l.a. this weekend you should stop by the opening of her solo show at gallery 554.

if you're not, you should creep through her web site, i guarantee you'll recognize the stouffer steez. it's gorgeous!

"this may be over your head"

it's amazing what you can find in the trash sometimes, especially in new york. awhile back caroline came across an old vhs someone had thrown out of a robert altman film i'd never heard of: brewster mccloud.bud cort, shelley duvall, need i say more? now, if only we had a vcr, i'm sure i'd fall instantly in love with this cray-zo looking flick.sooooo crush-worthy.

learning to love you more

i love miranda july and harrell fletcher’s project learning to love you more, especially the “make an encouraging banner” assignment. these are a few of my favorite submissions by the photographer wheat wurtzburger. aren’t they inspiring?
