when i was a freshman in high school, the closet doors in my bedroom were pretty much a masking taped shrine to the katester. that's a little embarrassing to admit (especially since my mom made me take down the photos that showed her nips cause she thought they were "inappropriate"...insert lots of angsty eye-rolling and adolescent exasperation here) but what i'm trying to say is that my love for the moss runs deep. like early-90s deep. so how could i not dig her a/w line for topshop? i coudn't not. not. what? you know what i'm sayin.

i'm gonna let you in on a little secret. i like to eat. like, a lot. as luck would have it, so does my roomie/bestie caroline. we spend an inordinate amount of time talking about food (as well as cooking it, serving it, eating it, reading about it, daydreaming about it...that's normal, right?!?) so we decided to unleash our obsession on the world with a little blog we like to call the num num chronicles. today, we got a shoutout from the nice folks at the world's best ever, and you know what that is? icing. on. the. cake. (yep, i just made that joke. can you forgive me? i'll bake you cookies? numnum.)

so, in continuing my "don't cry, fall will be ok" crusade i am happy to report that dear creatures autumn collection is the xanax to my end-of-summer depression. ever since i slipped on the edie romper from her first collection last year, bianca's been stealing my heart with her sweet, simple styles. and this new girl scout vibe? rocking my world.


i'm smitten enough to say these pieces are even better than a box of tagalongs, thin mints, and samoas combined. do you have ANY idea what the magnitude of that statement is?!? huge. huuuge!!

when my ladies j-lep played now fest in l.a. last week (unfortch i was only there in spirit), stephanie rocked an outfit that tooootally reminds me of one of my favorite movies: ladies and gentlemen, the fabulous stains. i guess it must be the beret (see above). have you guys seen this gem? diane lane and laura dern play a couple of badass cousins in an all-girl punk band makin' it in the world with serious attitude and a gang of girl groupies. in other words, it rules. thankfully, my new favorite tumblr (warning: time suck!!) has some stills that exemplify its epicness. watching it will give you a whole new appreciation for the under the tuscan sun (?!) actress and also for not wearing pants.

three kinds of awesome.

so, i recently finished reading my first murakami book. i know, i know, how on earth did i get this far in life without reading murakami?? no idea, but i'm glad it's been remedied. next on my list is the wind-up bird chronicle (it seems to be everyone's fave) but i'm glad i started with norwegian wood cause it also happens to be one of my favorite beatles' songs. (having this tune in my head the whole time i was reading was a welcome reprieve from the unsettling mashup of melissa etheridge and whatever soft rock song was playing the last time i was in duane reade that's usually stuck in there, wtf, seriously.)



not only that but it's also the namesake of an awesome etsy store that i maaay be stalking, just a little bit. i mean, with necklaces like these, how could i not?
