sparkle motion.

one of my favorite things about going to photo shoots is checking out all the amazing clothes that the stylist has pulled. i get to fondle multiple racks of things i would never actually touch in real life. on friday, i dropped by the cover shoot for our oct/nov issue (can't say who it is yet but it is gooooood! stay tuned...) and i fell in L-O-V-E with this pair of christian louboutins. this photo doesn't do them justice. luckily i am a lady of standards, or i would've swiped 'em right then and there and smuggled them out in my bottomless pit of a purse.

they totally remind me of my black converse from high school that i covered in silver glitter nail polish. behold, the fancy, adult version. of course they come with a fancy, adult price tag, too. boo.

"any fun."

two of my favorite things, j.schwartz and chloe. you can't go wrong. adding an o.g. poncho, a cigarette-puffing hula-hooper, and some sweet skateboarding is all icing on the coconut records cake.

totally campy.

one of my favorite blogs is the always stylish, ever-classy camp comfort. so when roberta jane asked me to partake in her "how i'd wear it" series, featuring these totally boss denim shorts from topshop, i was completely stoked. and admittedly, a little intimidated...just check out all the other amazing bloggers she featured! here's my jam, what i'd wear for a bike ride to the beach. now if only those vintage dior sunglasses were on my face instead of in my internet imagination....

thanks roberta, for indulging my online window shopping habit!! xo

hello angel.

life is a state of mind.

saw this movie for the first time over the weekend. man, i love me some peter sellers. and what about shirley maclaine?? i just read on imdb that they filmed her masturbation scene 17 times. whhhaaaaa. and the internet never lies. what a trooper.

lynn. for the win.

ok. i'll admit it. i'm a leeeetle bit obsessed. with lynn yaeger.

i mean, no one does cray-cray, raggedy-ann-on-crack, homeless goth-y chic like she does.
i saw her a couple days ago when i was getting off the L train, and every once in awhile i'll almost bump into her in whole foods (mabes union square is her hood??), but since i always stop dead in my tracks and just stare, that's never actually happened. i had kinda decided i wanted to be iris when i grew up, but lynn's winning my devotion. i think it's the bright pink blush dots?

fontaine of youth.

loving the illustrations of fontaine anderson. it's nice to find little snippets of beauty to minutely counteract the terror and heartache that consumes me when i read about the awfulness in iran. it's just not fair. and so so sad.

mini dress of my dreams.

i'm pretty sure i was born in the wrong decade (considering my undying devotion to the summer of love and all things associated), and the palpitations i'm experiencing from this lil' number just confirm my suspicions. it's probably best that it's already sold. i need another bell-sleeved mini dress like i need a hole in the head (very, very badly?). of course, i've bookmarked this etsy shop for future psychedelic necessities.

pomp and circumstance.

heading up to rochester for a certain someone's graduation.

stefan, i want to say one word to you. are you listening? plastics.

i kiiiiid! congratulations are in order. as are hot town, summer in the city, bike-riding, beach-hanging, picnic-having, outdoor-movie watching, ice-cream filled adventures. i hope you're ready.

eatmakeread + bay area bites.

when i moved to ny from california two years ago, i left my heart AND my stomach in san francisco. i mean, i know new york has wtfawesomemindblowing eats too but it's almost like there are TOO many. somehow they cancel each other out and just make everything seem ok?
i know that's crazy talk. i'm on deadline for the next ish, don't listen to a word i say, i've got exactly two working brain cells left. where was i going with this? oh yeah. kelly posted about her recent culinary adventures in my city by the bay and i swear her accounts made me tear up. i mean, just look at this photographic evidence!
the burritos (her FIRST. like, EVER. ay dios mio!!), the coffee, the ice cream, the IN-N-OUUUUUUT!!!!! my point is, you should totally head over to eatmakeread and enjoy a little vicarious food fantasizing.

desert sessions.

these photos by neil krug (from his book pulp) look kinda like my daydreams. they also make me wanna balance my chakras. or take a nibble of peyote. or join a cult. or something hallucinatory and awesome.

girls, girls, girls.

my lovely friend samantha hahn is showing in n.y.c. this month as part of "lady: a group show". i think her work is gorgeous, delicate and feminine yet totally striking. i kind of just want to be one of her beautifully drawn girls. especially the one knitting a web! i could totally use a web.

see you at the opening on saturday?

sophie king cute.

i first crushed on sarah sophie flicker when i spied her in rachel antonoff's fall 09 lookbook (the fact that i even noticed her when she was sharing page space with alia shawkat who holds my heart in her sassy little hands mean she must be extra special dy-no-mite!) so i was super stoked to see her interview on refinery today. she's a doll!

and besides, anyone who can list "filmmaker and trapeze artist" as occupations gets extra credit in my book. if only i could pull off her "psychedelic-meets-chorus girl style."
seriously. cute overload. (mental note: try actually styling hair so i can bite this perfectly tousled, fresh-off-my-bike-but-how-awesome-is-my-coif look she's got going on).

gimme that grass.

when my brother tells me to check out a band, i usually listen. somewhere along the line he got way cooler than me when it comes to good music (when did that happen?!?). so saturday night, i rode my bike into the city and caught grass widow at papabubble's first ever show (held in the basement of the candy store which ruled). lemme tell you what, these three ladies are awesome. experimental san francisco post punk + goosebump-inducing harmonies = yes. you can buy the lp here (did i mention they're on my brother's label?) or listen to some tracks here or check out the lil' movie below (made by grass widow's bassist) set to "lulu's lips". mesmerizing. speaking of my brother, pitchfork put up some videos of the show nodzzz played at market hotel awhile back (he's the drummer). an awesome way to kill some time, dancing around your computer or whatever. if you listen closely, you can hear him belching between songs. yeah, we're a classy fam.

casual friday.

last week ringo proclaimed her love for this gal, and i was definitely feelin' it. then i saw the wildfox shrine to zippora seven and i fell deeper. but what really sealed the deal? this photo. mickey mouse sweatshirt + tutu?? maybe the most perfect outfit ever?

house of style.

seriously. is this place for real?!? i think it fell right out of my fantasy life onto my computer screen. maybe i've been in new york for too long, but this "holiday" home in portugal is kind of blowing my mind. first of all, this is the most lounge-worthy couch i've ever seen. can you feel the breeze coming through that window? and the sunbeam warming your face?
the only reason i would get off it would be to take a nap in this most perfect bed.i want to eat every meal off of a colorful plate at this table in the cutest kitchen in the world.
and i'm pretty sure this porch was created with corona-sipping in mind. dreamiest dream home i ever dreamed of. commence "move to portugal" plan now.

of hi-tops and hemlines.

i love this spread from the new issue of n.e.e.t. i'm such a sucker for a cute vintage dress (hellloooo summer uniform!), and paired with some hi-top cons? it doesn't get much better than that. mime vintage, shall i just have my paycheck deposited into your account? that should make things easier for both of us.
