i think i've maybe mentioned my blog crush on the esteemed white lightning (maybe?), and though i don't know her personally, i have to admit that knowing she will no longer be in new york where i could possibly meet her and possibly get to know her personally, makes me kinda sad (and in a totally normal not stalkerish at all sort of way, i swear). not to mention that she'll no longer be writing about her adventures at the same bars/parties/vintagestores/whatever that i frequent myself, so there's a little vacuum in the meta-ness of my social existence. but the sense of loss has been momentarily alleviated by the fact that she's selling off some of her amazing wares to make the move easier. how bout you bookmark that shit? or don't. in case she puts something up that i can't live without. i don't want to have to fight you!

i love lyell's lookbook as much as i love their pretty, pretty clothes. i especially dig the sexpot dancer vibe they got goin' on for spring. but man, i get hungry just looking at these girls. cookies for everyone!

the sui and lowdown.

i kind of adore anna sui, so it's a wonder i was able to form complete sentences when i got to MEET HER FACE TO FACE this morning!! i credit the double iced latte i downed just minutes before. luckily, she was totally nice (i get super bummed when i finally meet a hero of mine and their non-awesomeness dashes any dreams of future bffness). and adorable. and her new collection for target (gossip girl inspired!) pretty much rules. i can tell you who'll be stalking target.com at midnight on september 13 (me). i might even have to beg my mom to pick up anything she can at her suburban target when it hits since the ones around here will sell out before you can say omfg.

yessss. summer shoe season is just about here and these beauties (thanks stella!!!) are my first step into non-boot territory. they made their debut saturday night at souther's show and after walking from my house to the subway to the gallery to the shake shack to the afterparty i've got some blisters that rival the epicness of those platforms. but once i get these babies broken in there will be no stopping me and my extra two inches of purpley goodness. oh, 80%20, you are a short gal's wet dream.

my friend souther makes the most genius magical art that makes you wish you were two-inches tall so you could jump right in to the crazy colorful worlds he creates. i can't even describe them, you just have to see them for yourself. and conveniently, you can!! if you're in nyc and at jonathan levine gallery anytime between may 16 and june 13. his solo show opens on saturday and you can bet i will be there for more than the free wine.

i don't know if i could pull off these looks from tucker (that is a serious jumpsuit up there!), but if i could they would've been the perfect outfits for my not-too-hot-but-still-wonderfully-sunny so cal adventure. i have to admit though, it's good to be back. thanks to roberta jane for the heads up about this print-tastic line...just looking at the spring collection makes me want to hop on a cruise or do some island exploration, pina colada firmly in hand.

i'm heading out west for some hometown thrifting, real mexican food eating, family hangin', serious beaching, and more sunshine than i'll know what to do with. sweet, sweet so cal. i hope your weekend has a case of the awesome too.

oh annie, you're so fine.

i've got a serious girl crush on st. vincent. so when she walked in to weather up on friday, where i was happily sippin a fancypants cocktail (worth every penny of those nine dollars), i pretty much went weak in the knees. that little pixie is just as adorable in real life as i'd hoped, and i couldn't help but sneak continuous glances at her crazy puffball hair and covetable outfit which included a vintage scarf, a hi-waisted skirt, and perfectly worn-in granny boots. her new album, which you should absolutely get when it comes out tomorrow, is a dark, beautiful mess of melody and strings and swoon-worthy vocals. in the meantime, peep the video of the first single below. as far as i'm concerned you can close your eyes during the frames she's not in.

l.a. story.

i got to catch a sneak peek screening of 500 days of summer this week and what can i say? it's as sweet and heartwarming/achey as the trailer makes it out to be. and now i'm totally crushed out on zooey + jgl.
