it's a dead man's party.

i spent thursday night with ryan gosling. and by spent, i mean stood in a small sea of people at le poisson rouge and watched him play music that is actually waaaaay better than you'd expect it to be for the whole actor-starts-a-band biz. no really, i swear. i know exactly what you're thinking but trust me on this one. or just watch the vid below. it's a pretty good example of dead man's bones deal: zombies, cemeteries, gothy folkness, creepy-cool children's choir vocals, and old-timey spookiness. oh, and ryan gosling. did i mention that? the rest of your october is just begging for this soundtrack.

this was the scene. the zombie kids killed it. i think that's the back of my head down there in the right hand corner.
if only this had been my view.

oh my *freaking* god, i'm so glad you shared this. somehow, despite being reduced to a trembling pile of hormones at the mere sight of ryan gosling i had zero idea about his band. a quick google search told me he's playing in my city on wednesday, and sold out or not, i'm getting in there! yaaaaaaay. thanks!

Dude, that's my boyfriend. And by boyfriend I mean famous stranger that I share fantasies of with thousands of other women. But someday, though, he'll be my for-real boyfriend.

I didn't even know exactly who he was (what, I'm lame when it comes to movie and tv peeps) but I knew I had FALLEN in love with Dead Man's Bones. I was soooo sad it was sold out and I didn't go to the show. I guess I'm happy you did. A bit jealous. I will now repeat "My Body's a Zombie for You" on my iPod yet again in honor of this post.

ryan gosling is from my parent's hometown! apparently he used to sing karaoke at one of the hotels when he was younger :)
